This is two separate illustrations both 8x10... I chose to do a whimsical design with a lively color tree on the right and the dead tree on the left. I started with laying down a layer of pen work and then did watercolor on top of it. I had most trouble with the feet on the skeleton and little boy but resolved the problem by adding a little more structure.
